There’s a brief recap of the last show (which, if you were clever enough and technical enough to decode it, would give you a good ten minutes’ worth of material from last week) before Spike breaks kayfabe and reveals some intimately personal details and has one of his regular and well-worn crisis of confidence. But he’s happy that local blogger The Film Geek asked him to guest review the movie “Michael Clayton”.

On the show tonight, why Sean “insanity” Hannity is a better broadcaster than Spike; the cost of the Iraq war, what the cost to translate to per person and how much more Bush wants; a ‘gnarly’ action by an Australian politician which may cost him the PM-ship; it’s tinfoil hats at the ready as Spike expounds on a report that NASA are burying that is more interested in protecting “Wee Johnny CEO’s bonus” than it is the general population; anther reason for the extremists to hate ‘Harry Potter’; “signatures and circles” and, after a “crunchy gear shift”, why the geek will inherit the votes….

Another episode of the podcast-within-a-podcast from Brendan the Iremonger, a look at a traditionally liberal civil rights organisation standing firmly behind (but not standing widely beside) a troubled republican senator.

Rudy Giuliani marches into “jolly old England” to tell those whacky English types how rubbish their ‘socialized’ heathcare system is. Because he knows all about it, having been in the country for fifteen minutes. Spike expounds on his own extensive experiences with both nationalised and private healthcare systems, which is better and why Guiliani is talking out of his cancerous prostate.

Additionally; them foreigners is living longer, how a brown lawn can get you thrown down a flight of L.A. stairs, weird Spike and his multiple phobias and the state of Chernobyl.

The analogies and ‘likenings’ to be gleaned from knowing more about the individuals in the Doctrine and Covenants are almost boundless. It is my hope that you will take note of the names and begin to wonder about who they were, where they came from, and if they fulfilled their divine commissions. “Some time ago I was walking in the center of Salt Lake City on my way to City Creek Canyon. A car with an out-of-state license plate was driving by. The driver pulled over and asked, ‘Where is the church of the Mormons?’ I assumed that he was thinking of some place or building. I took time to point out the tall Church Office Building, the stately Church Administration Building, the magnificent temple, and the historic tabernacle (the Conference Center had not yet been built). He thanked me and went on his way. . . . I could have answered differently. I could have pointed to my chest and said that the Church should be first and foremost in our hearts. Then the traveler would surely have been somewhat bewildered. But that response would have been more accurate than my directing him to our beloved, magnificent, sky-piercing spires; the great majestic dome; and the other world-famous monuments and edifices—wonderful and unique and great as they are. It would have been more correct because the Lord said, ‘The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.’ The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should be in our hearts, and, when it is in our individual hearts, it will also be in our great buildings of worship, in our lovely educational institutions, and in our magnificent temples, as well as in our homes and families.”

Occasionally I run behind with new shows and for that, I apologize. However; there are always a plethera of shows looming in BluePower’s background which I can substitute while I work on something new. This week, I am posting the BB King show I did several years ago. The reason being that it is a good show and quite informative. It speaks of BB’s influences, which are significant for young guitarists. They certainly were for me. Part Two deals primarily with BB’s influences; from T-Bone Walker and Bukka White to Django Reinhardt. Once you know Mr. King’s influences, you can hear them as he plays certain solos. Of course, these influential players also influenced many modern guitarists. How many artists can you name who were influenced by the same people? Nearly all of the occasions in my life when I have had great events foretold my by the Spirit, I have never invited them myself or asked about them. They have just come. I can see why that is: because every person who joins the Church and is a member of it in good standing has a right to receive the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. He is given the right at baptism and he keeps that right as long as he is righteous. I have come to the conclusion that this Spirit and whatever influence he uses to reach us is more anxious to help us than we are anxious to be helped. . . . So you may be sure that if you are doing your normal things in righteousness, there will come to you intuitions, feelings, revelations which will guide you if you can understand that Spirit and how you’re having it.”

“I think our experience on earth is like the playhouse in my backyard. It’s not too far from the ‘big’ house, so the parents can keep an eye on their little ones and hear their confident calls ‘Look at me’ as they zip down the slide. Sometimes, the voice is a little more plaintive as a younger one hollers for help—the top of the slide looking down is much more daunting than the bottom looking up. The playhouse is a place where the children can practice independence and have picnic lunches, a place where they can learn to obey the rules. It’s a place they can learn to get along, to share, to get sand out of each other’s hair and let everyone into the club, no matter how old they are. This is sort of like the DVD extras…or Oprah’s “After Show” show. When the show was over, there were no DJ’s to take over the airwaves. So Steve comes back on to play more movie songs, laugh, sing and finish off his bottle of rum from New Year’s Eve. Mrs. Steve adds to the fun as she keeps the pm’s coming from their buddy Jeanette and searches online for…errm…feline.

Be aware that Steve becomes a bit intoxicated by show’s end and even manages to yank his mic cord out of the studio, so that the final 15 minutes of the show is filled with about 6 minutes of songs and 9 minutes of dead air as Steve rambles aimlessly … to no one. Do not adjust your sound! Ha ha.
