“Some time ago I was walking in the center of Salt Lake City on my way to City Creek Canyon. A car with an out-of-state license plate was driving by. The driver pulled over and asked, ‘Where is the church of the Mormons?’ I assumed that he was thinking of some place or building. I took time to point out the tall Church Office Building, the stately Church Administration Building, the magnificent temple, and the historic tabernacle (the Conference Center had not yet been built). He thanked me and went on his way. . . . I could have answered differently. I could have pointed to my chest and said that the Church should be first and foremost in our hearts. Then the traveler would surely have been somewhat bewildered. But that response would have been more accurate than my directing him to our beloved, magnificent, sky-piercing spires; the great majestic dome; and the other world-famous monuments and edifices—wonderful and unique and great as they are. It would have been more correct because the Lord said, ‘The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.’ The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should be in our hearts, and, when it is in our individual hearts, it will also be in our great buildings of worship, in our lovely educational institutions, and in our magnificent temples, as well as in our homes and families.”

I share, on the way home from work, how thinking about one thing led to thinking about another thing, and so on, and so on – from some quirks about our car to a safety alert system from an old job. By the time this episode comes out, I will have mailed the two copies of Todd Lerner’s CD “If Right Now Played Guitar” to the Bruce Murray of the Zedcast and the Official Mom, both of whom were the first two people to send in audio comments for last week’s episode. Last week I reported on taking my car to the doctor and how my doctor taught me that the car actually has certain automobile health diseases that need to be treated. I learned all about the big con of the prevention industry—the people who change your oil and who flush out your transmission fluid and all these other con artists out there to try to “prevent” car problems. Thankfully my doctor completely reeducated me about the truth about automobile health. I thought “That’s great. I learned so much from this guy. Let’s talk to him about the health of my lawn.”

YOU CAME INTO THIS WORLD AND MY HEART THE SAME WAY YOU LEFT IT, AS AN ANGEL FROM ABOVE

The following recording is of the actual events before and after the passing away of Jamie’s beloved Marley, a yellow lab dog whom has been in failing health over the last few months. Jamie was Marley’s world, and his passing signifies a tremendous rebirth not only for Marley but for Jamie as well.

This documentation was recorded to share the beauty and incredible impact that this one animal had not only on Jamie’s life and heart but anyone whom he came into contact with over his full life of 12 years.

Left to make one of the worst decisions imaginable due to his ever failing health and concern, Jamie finally decided that Marley was indeed hurting and suffering and it was time for him to begin his next life in peace and grow those wings he so beautifully earned during his time here on earth.

Heard in this recording throughout are Jamie Leigh, her older sister Laurie, and mother Barbara Kalb. All three were present as Marley was taken into the room to be put to sleep.

Please be cautioned that this is an extremely intense and intimate recording of the actual passing as it took place, and you will hear vivid sound effects, last words, and even kisses on Marley’s sweet soft cheek by Jamie as he slowly slips away peacefully and begins his journey into his next life.

The last segment of the recording follows Jamie Leigh back into the car as she drives with her mother on the way back after their visit to release Marley where they share an intimate and at times funny conversation reflecting on what was and will be now.
