I dont think any act of provocation should be encouraged. Periyars statue in front of srirangam koil might provocate angry mob hindus and hence it should be pre emptively stopped. I agree with chella that it is disgusting that Medieval Hindus were treating a group to be untouchables. The work done by periyar and ambedkar to bring these people to main stream were definitely commendable . At the same time violence against upper caste Hindus must be stopped. We come from a political system which tried to find solution to problems through violence. Ramadass against Kushbu, Congress against Honda Factory workers, BJP against Muslims in Gujarath are classic examples . Any body who tries to find solution to a problem through violence is a barbarian
